Exclusion Porch & Aperture
The entrance features a precision 32 mm circular aperture with an extended hooded porch overhang. This mechanical barrier prevents larger invasive birds from perching, reaching inside, or blocking access for songbirds.
Rear Utility Infrastructure
The back wall of the entire 3×3 grid features precision slots where external resource bottles feed food and water straight into internal dishes, keeping maintenance completely separate from nesting areas.
Hydraulic & Sustenance Systems
Operating entirely without electricity or moving electronic parts, the Tri-State system relies on fundamental fluid dynamics and gravity to maintain self-regulating resource delivery.
Hydrostatic Equilibrium
Water delivery operates on inverted vacuum pressure. An inverted reservoir bottle feeds straight into a sealed drinking dish inside the rear 8 cm utility zone.
As songbirds drink, the liquid level drops below the bottle opening, allowing an air bubble to enter the reservoir. This releases a precise volume of water until the dish level covers the rim, automatically sealing the vacuum and stopping the flow.
Gravity-Fed Sustenance
Dry food sits in an external hopper mounted to the rear chassis. Seed feeds continuously into the internal food trough through a low-friction angled ramp.
Because dry grain lacks liquid surface tension, the food system operates on simple gravity distribution, filling the feeding slot as birds consume seed without spilling into the nesting sanctuary.
